The EU-funded project SocKETs aims at developing a shared understanding of the role of key enabling technologies in society and to advocate for the importance of societal engagement in innovation process. To do so, SocKETs has been gathering and highlighting ‘Societal Engagement Stories’ – take a look at the first stories! These multimedia stories immerse readers in research and innovation projects which engage citizens & society with technology development and social challenges. From climate change to robotic technology, from citizen consultations to citizen research, there is lots to talk about.
Are you sitting on a body of experience that you would feel ready to share and contribute? Is now the time to share what you learned from a societal engagement experience you’ve been part of?
After two successful applications before 18th November, we are extending the deadline, looking for one last author to write about their experience with societal engagement initiatives on innovation or technology development and their potential impact on society. Anyone engaging citizens with innovation and technology development is invited to submit story ideas about their actual experiences.
The selected authors will:
- Receive the support of science communication professionals to write and design their story;
- Benefit from a large European exposure through the networks of SocKETs partners;
- Come out of this experience with quality writing that they can use elsewhere to enhance their project or story; and
- Build relationships with the broad community of research, business, communication professionals and citizens actors across Europe engaged in the project.
The call ends on 12 December. All story ideas will be evaluated and selected by the SocKETs Communications and Dissemination Group, whose members are science engagement experts, societal engagement researchers and experts in innovation and technology development from 5 European countries.
